About Us

The company was started in 1992 by Bill Donald in Kelso, to fulfil a lifelong ambition to work with metals and engineering.

Local Sculptor Jake Harvey was one of our first clients, asking us if we could make a set of bouchard hammers for the Edinburgh College of Art. Bill's response was 'Probably, if we knew what they were!' From that job the company logo was born, and it was swiftly followed by requests for chisels.

Bill gets immense satisfaction from making the tools, although he doesn't actually know how to use them - and this, despite all his forebears, including his father, being time-served, master masons.
